A-LIST
DLF is a founding member of the Alliance for Low Input Sustainable Turf® (A-LIST®), a non-profit cooperative that identifies, tests, and promotes high-performing turfgrass varieties that require less maintenance inputs (e.g., water, pesticides, and fertilizers).
For decades, turfgrass breeders have worked hard to develop varieties that outperform their predecessors. The A-LIST® seeks to influence turfgrass breeding by creating holistic trial guidelines and evaluation protocols that will identify the best performing turfgrasses with reduced input demands.
Turfgrasses offer several inherent psychological and physiological benefits, and by reducing their growing inputs, we hope to further enrich their value and contribution to society. More importantly, as responsible stewards of the earth’s natural resources, we believe enhanced plant health and sustainability are paramount as we create new seed solutions to address changing environments.
DLF’S CURRENT A-LIST CULTIVARS
To become “A-LIST Approved,” a turfgrass variety must demonstrate superior performance in A-LIST trials. Only products that meet the acceptance criteria can use the A-LIST symbol in marketing and packaging.

PARTNERING TO IMPROVE SUSTAINABILITY
The A-LIST® thrives on public-private collaboration, uniting industry and academic partners to enhance the environmental sustainability of turfgrasses. Grass seed companies adhere to A-LIST trial guidelines when breeding and testing for low-input turf performance, and the most promising candidates are independently tested and analyzed at respected universities nationwide. Transparent evaluation protocols guarantee only the top turfgrass varieties earn A-LIST approval. To ensure the program's integrity and independence, testing is conducted by nationally recognized cooperators selected on a regional basis. Participation in the independent and geographically diverse National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) is also a requirement for the approval process.
