DLF Team Cultivates Community and Collaboration

At our Lindsay, Ontario site, employees have turned a simple idea into a thriving initiative that embodies our company’s strategy of Connecting to Grow. What started as six raised garden beds has blossomed into a source of fresh produce, shared experiences, and meaningful community impact.

This past year, the DLF garden yielded 355 pounds of vegetables, with 140 pounds donated to the local women’s shelter. The team also extended their care to animals, donating cat grass to the humane society along with $220 raised by employees.

Leading the charge were Michelle Elson and Lori Petherick, whose passion inspired colleagues to get involved. Together, the team cultivated a diverse array of vegetables and herbs, from vibrant peppers and tomatoes to fragrant basil and rosemary. The harvest wasn’t just about growing food; it was about creating connections.

Employees came together to celebrate the garden’s bounty with a homemade soup lunch, featuring tomato, potato leek, and squash soups, plus pumpkin cupcakes. They also shared an impressive lineup of treats and preserves, including zucchini bread, hot pepper jellies, pickled peppers, and even Dave’s extra hot sauce.

Beyond the delicious creations, the garden sparked creativity and camaraderie. It became a space where colleagues worked side by side, learned from one another, and gave back to the community. Every seed planted and every meal shared reinforced the idea that growth happens when we connect with each other and the communities we serve.

As we look ahead, the Lindsay team’s garden stands as a vibrant example of how we can live our values and make a difference – one plant, one meal, and one act of kindness at a time.
