Junegrass
Junegrass is a native, cool-season perennial bunchgrass that thrives in a variety of environments, including rangelands, plains, and open forestlands. Found predominantly at elevations between 4,000 and 12,000 feet, it is an ideal species for reclamation projects, range improvement, and even as an ornamental grass. Prairie Junegrass is best suited to deep, medium to moderately fine soils, where it provides reliable early spring forage and fair late spring forage for livestock. It is also an important forage species for wildlife, offering fair to good grazing for elk year-round and being especially desirable for deer and antelope during spring and early summer.
This hardy grass is known for its resilience, exhibiting excellent tolerance to cold, heat, and drought conditions, making it an adaptable choice for a wide range of climates.
