Timothy

SEEDS & SCIENCE

Richmond

Description

Richmond Timothy is adapted to a cool and humid climate, and thrives best on rich, moist bottomlands or on finer textured soils, such as clay loams - not on coarser soils. It prefers a pH of 5.5 to 7.0. Timothy will grow on low fertility soils, but is better in high fertility soil. It is not well adapted to wet, flat land or standing water. It has poor recovery in limited moisture conditions, and does not tolerate drought, but has high tolerance to cold temperatures and ice.
